New Federal Act to Expand Activities Related to Alzheimer's
A new Act proposed in the U.S. Senate (S. 2076) and in Congress (HR 4256) will expand activities under the federal Alzheimer's Disease and Healthy Aging Program. Referred to as the "Building Our Largest Dementia Infrastructure for Alzheimer's Act" or "BOLD Infrastructure for Alzheimer's Act", the Act allocates $12 million to expand education about dementia and Alzheimer's, enhance support for caregivers, and more. Although most of us would agree that more support and research is need, this is first step. You can read the complete Act online. Contact your Congressional Representative and our California Senators Feinstein and Harris to encourage them to support this first step.
A Special Request - Can You Help?
One of our "Happenings!" readers is asking for help. She is hoping we have a volunteer who could visit her husband at the care facility. Unfortunately she has mobility issues and is also taking care of her sister so she cannot visit very often. He likes symphony music. If this is something you would like to do, please send us a reply and we will put you in contact with her.
What is "Happenings!"
"Happenings!" is the our monthly e-mail newsletter for the Alzheimer's Aid Society. We send it at the beginning of the month so you can stay up-to-date on events and news in northern California. We will also include tips for caregivers and highlight new scientific research. Recent issues are available on our website. You can print the e-newsletter online to include details on links. Do you have a comment or feedback? Please reply to this message - we would love to hear from you.
